Two national retailers will open June 19 in the former Dunn Bros Coffee space at 228 Washington Ave. N

Shinola, a Detroit-based maker of handcrafted watches, bicycles and leather goods, and Filson, a Seattle-based brand of outdoor clothing and accessories, have teamed up to take over the space Dunn Bros left in December. Dunn Bros relocated to a brand-new space in the Dock Street Flats apartment building just down the street. That location has been open since February.

This is Shinola’s third brick-and-mortar store to open since the company was founded in 2011, and Filson’s seventh since it was founded in 1897. This is the first foray into Minnesota for both brands, which are owned by the same parent company, Bedrock Manufacturing.

Tomorrow Shinola will be installing one of its Shinola City Clocks outside of the building.
