A string of burglaries in Northeast Minneapolis has the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) reminding Northeast residents to keep their cars, garages and homes locked.

During the month of March eight home burglaries were reported in Windom Park and Audubon Park, and since March 29 seven vehicles, all unlocked, have been rummaged through in Waite Park and Columbia Park.

The home break-ins occurred during the day and the vehicle break-ins happened at night.

In 2013 the 2nd Precinct, which covers all of northeast and southeast Minneapolis, led the city in overall crime reduction. Those numbers included 79 fewer burglaries than in 2012.
