The public can now vote for the "Outstanding Restaurant Item" and "Outstanding Food Truck Item" Charlie Award until polls close Oct. 23.

Almost 150 restaurants and food trucks have entered a menu item that is most representative of their business, so the entries are being broken down into six regions. The top vote-getter in each region will advance to the finals, then a panel of experts will determine the winner.

This year the awards ceremony will be held on Nov. 17 at the Pantages Theatre beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The Charlie Awards began in 2011 to recognize excellence in the Twin Cities' food and beverage industry. The awards are named after the legendary restaurant, Charlie’s Café Exceptionale, which was a mainstay in downtown Minneapolis until the 1980s.
