New police booth connects youth to MPD programs

The Minneapolis Police Department is working to boost its connection to Minneapolis youth through its new youth outreach tent at the Nicollet Mall Farmer’s Market on Thursdays.

Minneapolis Police Chief Janée Harteau visited the booth at 11 a.m. June 27 to celebrate the tent’s debut.

The stand at Nicollet & 7th is intended to help connect youth outreach workers with young people downtown and will provide information on different programs and resources the department offers for children and families.

Police Department interns who specialize in youth outreach, police cadets active in department youth programs, school resource officers and crime prevention specialists will staff the tent 10 a.m.–6 p.m. every Thursday until September 19.
