A new lounge and eatery is now open in the North Loop.

The Tangiers literally rolled out the red carpet outside its doors at 116 1st Ave. N. for a late-August premier. The newbie nightspot takes its name from the Tangiers casino in Vegas Mafioso flick “Casino” and has a similarly lavish vibe.

The 4,000-square-foot dining, dancing and lounging area underwent a full remodel and is now decked out with chandeliers, flashy red booths and matching curtains. Managing partner Behnad Taheri is a Minneapolis nightlife vet, having served as general manager at multiple Warehouse District clubs including the Lounge.

The Tangiers serves a variety of small plates, flatbreads and signature cocktails and is open from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. most nights, but is closed on Sundays and Tuesdays.
