D'Amico and Sons is out and Marin is in on the ground floor of Le Méridien Chambers hotel in downtown Minneapolis.
Marin will be the second restaurant opened by Craig Bentdahl, who opened Mill Valley Kitchen in St. Louis Park in 2011.
Marin's menu will be similar to Mill Valley Kitchen's, utilizing the “same philosophy of using healthy, nutrient-dense, fresh ingredients prepared in a flavorful way,” according to Bentdahl.
Shea Design will be working with Bentdahl on the renovation. Shea also designed Mill Valley Kitchen and their new headquarters are a just a block away from Le Méridien Chambers on Hennepin. Shea also recently designed Butcher and the Boar, Lunds and Union, which are all on Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis.
Between the dining room and patio Marin will seat approximately 300 people, and Bentdahl said he hopes to open sometime this summer.
D'Amico took over the space from Chambers Kitchen in July 2009 and has plans to expand in 2013.
“We’ve opened three new restaurants in the past couple of years, and we’re planning to open another new restaurant concept in 2013,” said Richard D'Amico, president of D'Amico and Partners in a statement.
D’Amico and Partners currently operates 20 restaurants, including 16 in Minnesota and four in Naples, Fla.
