The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority announced today that it has picked Mortenson Construction of Golden Valley to be the construction manager for the new Vikings stadium.

Mortenson also built Target Field, Xcel Energy Center and Target Center.

“We received proposals from excellent construction companies, and we were lucky to have the best in the business bid on this project,” said MSFA Chair Michele Kelm-Helgen. “In the end, we have a great local team with Mortenson, they wanted this project and offered us very competitive terms. They have built over 100 sports and entertainment venues and are one of the most respected sports facilities builders in the United States.”

Construction is scheduled to begin this fall.
