Minneapolis Fire Department responds to fire in River Towers Condominiums

At approximately 2:25pm today, the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a fire on the seventh floor of Tower A at the River Towers Condominiums in downtown Minneapolis.

The fire was contained to apartment 709 and was put out quickly. Occupants were evacuated to the lobby area while the thick smoke cleared.

Two MTC buses were dispatched for shelter, but were not needed. Two civilians were evaluated for injuries at the scene; one was transported for further evaluation. No firefighter injuries were reported.

The River Towers Condominiums were built in 1964, housing 512 units between two towers located at 15 1st St. S. Tower A has 16 floors, Tower B has 27 floors.
