Kraus-Anderson is building a new four-story headquarters right next to its current building at 525 S. 8th St.
The new building will double the construction giant’s downtown workforce to 250 employees by consolidating its offices in Circle Pines and Bloomington. Construction is expected to begin in the fall and the building should be completed a year later.
Kraus-Anderson has been headquartered in downtown Minneapolis since its founding in 1897 and has been going through a period of solid growth, hiring more than 100 people in the last 12 months.
“It’s the old story of the contractor who’s so busy working on everybody else’s projects, they don’t have time to build their own,” wrote Al Gerhardt, Kraus-Anderson Construction Chief Operating Officer in a press release. “Now is the time.”
The new building will be LEED-certified and its designers are working with the Elliot Park Neighborhood, Inc. to make the building appealing and useful for the neighborhood.
