On Jan. 2, the International Education Center moved out of its old location at 730 Hennepin Ave. down a few blocks to its new spot at 1128 Harmon Place.

“Moves are always challenging, logistically, but the staff worked really hard,” said David Gaither, executive director of the International Education Center. “I realize why I lived in the same house for 20 years.”

The new location is slightly smaller, and its first classes were held on Jan. 8.

At 730 Hennepin Ave., St. Paul-based developer Everwood Company is renovating the top seven floors into affordable apartments they are calling the City Place Lofts. Everwood is working with the Hennepin Theatre Trust to find an “arts user tenant” for the ground floor, according to Elizabeth Flannery, a project partner at Everwood.
