The 5th Congressional District Green Party endorsed three candidates for City Council on Saturday — Kristina Gronquist, Chris Lautenschlager and Kale Severson.

Gronquist is running for the Third Ward seat against DFL-endorsed candidate Jacob Frey and incumbent City Council Member Diane Hofstede.

Lautenschlager is challenging incumbent Council Member Sandy Colvin Roy and Andrew Johnson for the 12th Ward spot, and Kale Severson is running for the Fifth Ward against four other candidates: Ian Alexander, Brett Buckner, Blong Yang and Ken Foxworth.

Gronquist, recently profiled by the Journal, has been a long time Green Party member. "I know it is hard to swim upstream with a third party. I have always voted Green when there is a Green candidate. It just makes sense," she said.

In February, the Green Party endorsed Cam Gordon for the Council's Second Ward, Ty Moore for the Ninth Ward and Annie Young for the Park Board's at-large seat.
