Preliminary plans call for 50-60 apartments, retail and a parking ramp

Greco Development is considering developing a surface parking lot it owns at 729 Washington Ave. N into a building housing 50-60 market-rate apartments, 7,000 to 10,000 square feet of retail and an adjacent parking ramp.

Those plans are very preliminary. First, Greco is applying for a $100,000 grant from Met Council to perform environmental site investigation work to see if the land will need to undergo pollution cleanup. Greco declined to comment on the project.

“Any comments would be pure conjecture at this point,” wrote Greco President Arnie Gregory in an email.

Greco received a letter of support for the Met Council grant from the North Loop Neighborhood Association Planning and Zoning Committee after meeting with the committee in April.

Across the street another Greco project, Elsewarehouse, opened last December. Elsewarehouse has 116 apartments and is home to three restaurants, Borough, Parlour, and Socialista, which is opening soon.
