YouthLink partnering with trucks in August for fundraiser

More than a dozen food trucks are teaming up with YouthLink in August to raise money for the organization's work supporting homeless youth.

YouthLink is selling $10 discount cards for special deals at food trucks. All of the proceeds will go toward programs helping young people experiencing homelessness.

"The goal of this fundraiser is two-fold," said France Roen, YouthLink's development director. "We hope to raise money to support the programs these young people so desperately need to move their lives forward. But we also want to make people aware of this growing, yet often unheard of, segment of our population and the challenges they face on a daily basis."

Nearly half of the state's homeless — 46 percent — are people under the age of 21, according to a Wilder Foundation survey released this spring.

YouthLink hopes to make the food truck fundraiser an annual event and is aiming to sell at least 200 cards for this first one. Tickets can be purchased at YouthLink, 41 N. 12th, by calling 252-1280 or online at www.youthlinkmn.org/foodtrucks.

A list of participating food trucks and special discounts is also available at www.youthlinkmn.org/foodtrucks.
