Thousands of fans lined Nicollet Mall today to celebrate the Minnesota Lynx' second WNBA championship.

The parade started at 11:30 a.m. at 12th & Nicollet, and then ran down Nicollet before turning down 7th Street to make its way to Target Center. The celebration at Target Center was set to get underway at 12:15 p.m.

The Lynx secured the championship Thursday after beating the Atlanta Dream in a three-game sweep. The team won their first WNBA championship in 2011.

Mayor R.T. Rybak posted the following Lynx-inspired poem on his Facebook page today:

Ode to the Lynx:

During a season of triumph
The Lynx have been courageous
For other Minnesota teams
Lets hope it is contagious

For a couple of months
Let our stars rest and idle
But when next season comes
Keep your mitts off our title

We won it fair and square
On defense and attack
The title's in Minnesota
And we ain't givin it back
