The vacant Western Container building in the North Loop might become home to a boutique condo project.

The proposal, first reported by Finance & Commerce, calls for 20 to 24 condos in the building at 500 3rd St. N.

The Downtown Resource Group's Joe Grunnet and Kevin Mullen recently made a presentation about the project to the North Loop Neighborhood Association's Planning and Zoning Committee, said David Frank, president of the neighborhood association.

The building is owned by Swervo Development, according to Hennepin County property tax records. It was built in 1908 and has an estimated market value of $1,148,500.

The North Loop has seen a wave of new development — primarily apartment projects.
