A community forum to discuss the future of the Minnesota Orchestra is set for Tuesday evening at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave. S.

The organizer of the event is Orchestra Excellence, a group of more than 1,400 supporters of the Orchestra. The event will start with a keynote address by Alan Fletcher, CEO and president of the Aspen Music Festival and School.

“The fundamental questions Minnesotans must answer are, ‘Does Minnesota want a world-class orchestra, and why,’” Fletcher said in a statement. “The community should know its answer to these questions as dialogue moves forward.”

Following his keynote, Fletcher will take questions from the audience and then people will break into smaller groups to discuss issues facing the Orchestra.

The event will run 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Minnesota Orchestra management and the musician's union have not been able to reach a deal on a collective bargaining agreement for several months.
