The Brave New Workshop is planning a bike rally May 23 — a pre-show celebration of local biking culture before a performance of its latest show, "Lance Armstrong's Steroid-Pumped Comedy Revue: A Cheater's Guide to Winning."

The rally will be held at 6:30 p.m. in front of the theater at 824 Hennepin Ave. S. There will be bike games, prizes and information from Nice Ride MN and the Commuter Connection.

"We're always looking for ways to encourage people to use alternative transportation to come to the theatre," said Erin Farmer, the theater's managing director. "And given the theme of this show, people's increased comfort with biking downtown, and the return of the beautiful weather, this event came together pretty naturally. Plus, it just sounded like fun to us."

Admission to the rally is open to ticket holders for the theater's evening show. There are plans for another bike rally June 27.
