The Downtown Council announced this week that the Holidazzle Parade will undergo significant changes starting next year.
The number of parades this year has also been cut down. Holidazzle will run down Nicollet Avenue in Downtown eight times this winter, every Friday and Saturday night from November 29 until December 21. Last year there were 19 parades.
“For more than 20 years, Holidazzle has been a Minneapolis holiday tradition,” Leah Wong, the vice president of events and marketing for the Minneapolis Downtown Council, wrote in a statement. “As we look ahead to the possibilities of what’s next for downtown Minneapolis – during the holidays and all year long – we have set aside this season as a salute to all who have been part of the parade through the years.”
No clear details have emerged on what the Downtown Council plans to do with the Holidazzle next year, only that "it has begun the process of reimagining the holiday experience Downtown," according to a press release.
This year Target is sponsoring the Holidazzle for the seventh straight season.
Tickets for Hot Seats, a sheltered section along the parade route with complementary hot cocoa and cider, will cost $9 and go on sale November 1.
