Esquire has put men’s store Askov Finlayson, 200 1st St. N., on its list of the 11 best men’s stores in the country.

It ranks ninth on the list featured in the September issue and was the only Minnesota store included.

“Not a ton of stores around that sell rarefied Boglioli jackets, rugged Barbour coats, and trendy Unis chinos under one roof, nor are there a ton of stores that have a rooftop vegetable garden to service the store’s sibling restaurant,” Esquire noted. “But here we are, at this Minneapolis warehouse, converted by local brothers Andrew and Eric Dayton into a retail and restaurant juggernut.”

Askov Finlayson opened in 2011 in the same building home to the Dayton brothers’ Bachelor Farmer restaurant and cocktail haven Marvel Bar.

Eric Dayton called making Esquire’s list a huge honor.

“Esquire is a magazine that my brother and I both have read and respected long before we opened Askov Finlayson, so this really means a great deal,” he said. “We’ve got a lot planned for Askov Finlayson in the coming year, and this gives our whole team a wonderful boost of encouragement and enthusiasm as we forge ahead.”
