The fifth annual Women of the World Poetry Slam festival and championship tournament will be held downtown March 6–9.
Eighty poets from around the world will compete at the tournament’s preliminary rounds March 6–8 at Kieran’s Irish Pub and the Institute for Production Recording. The finals will be held at Aria.
Host city coordinator Allison Broeren said she’s “beyond thrilled” the event is coming to Minneapolis.
“Women from as far away as New Zealand will compete with our Twin Cities spoken word artists, already known as some of the best in the universe,” she said. “Minneapolis will become the epicenter of slam poetry, and audiences will be amazed by the talent and the range of styles, voices and experiences that these top women poets bring with them.”
