City seeks $200,000 for 3rd Street bike lane

Body:

The Minneapolis Public Works Department needs local dollars to match a $600,000 federal grant for a new bike lane on South 3rd Street between Hennepin and Chicago avenues.

The city needs to find $200,000 locally before it can move forward on the project, said Donald Pflaum, a Public Works transportation engineer.

Pflaum went before the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association (DMNA) on Sept. 14 to see if the neighborhood group would be willing to set aside Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) dollars for the bike lane.
