Brothers planning to give away 5,000 trees on Earth Day

Neighborhood Forest, a local project run by brothers Vikas and Vivek Narula, has a goal of giving away 5,000 trees to school children in Minnesota and Iowa on Earth Day, April 22.

The project got its start with children at Lake Harriet Lower School in 2010. Several other schools in Minneapolis and throughout the Twin Cities have since signed up to be part of the Neighborhood Forest program.

Last year, the project gave away 2,500 trees and the Narula brothers hope to double that this year, said Vikas Narula.
