Two vendors selected for MPD’s police body camera pilot program

The City Council’s Ways and Means Committee has approved spending up to $170,000 for two contracts for a pilot program testing out police body cameras.

The committee approved contacts with Taser International and VIEVU at its meeting Monday afternoon — two vendors selected out of 11 who responded to the city’s request for proposals (RFP).

It also directed MPD leaders to present an overview of the scope of the pilot program to the Council’s Public Safety & Regulatory Services Committee before it launches.
