Where It's At

Just as subzero temperatures descended on Downtown, construction crews have completed pouring grade-level concrete foundations, walls and slabs for the New Central Library.

Crews have also erected two sections of elevated concrete slab on the north side of the building. Graham Penn-Co, one of the project contractors, uses a concrete-placing boom that stretches 110 feet. The system has the capacity to pump concrete up six floors from a truck parked a block away from the site.
