U of M study examines city's juvenile sex trafficking market

The juvenile sex trafficking market in Minneapolis is driven by violent recruiting methods targeting vulnerable girls who are often exploited by pimps and traffickers from their own communities, according to a new report by University of Minnesota researchers.

The first-of-its-kind study from the university’s Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) is based on 89 interviews with experts on the juvenile sex trafficking problem along with an analysis of five years of Minneapolis Police case records, court documents and media reports.
