Cam Gordon pulls his city-owned utility resolutions

City Council Member Cam Gordon has pulled his two contentious resolutions that would have started the process of forming city-owned energy utilities in Minneapolis.

A substitute motion asks city staff to begin negotiating with Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy on a new contract.  Gordon and fellow Council members Betsy Hodges, Gary Schiff and Robert Lilligren authored that resolution.

Gordon said he was happy with the progress made since he introduced his resolutions and said he heard a “sincere commitment to engage in a partnership” from executives of both companies.
