Metro shoppers poised to spend big this season, survey says

Twin Cities shoppers will pay big bucks this holiday season, more so than in any of the 13 years the University of St. Thomas has conducted its Holiday Sentiment Survey.

The survey, released Wednesday, found shoppers in the metro region are planning to spend $868 per household on gifts, an uptick of $31 or 3.7 percent from last year’s record-breaking survey. Twin Cities shoppers are also significantly more optimistic than in past years, reaching pre-recession levels.
