Security officers ratify contract

The private security officers who work in many of Downtown’s office buildings voted Saturday to ratify a contract agreement granting them higher wages and better health care benefits.

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local 26, representing private security officers in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, negotiated the contract with security contractors ABM, Allied Barton, American, Securitas and Viking. The union began the push for a new contract in January and authorized a one-day strike February 25.
