Bridge crews begin pouring concrete

Crews on the Interstate 35W bridge construction site will continue pouring concrete for the south approach span this week while a giant crane is assembled just down the river, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) reported Monday.

Crews spent weeks assembling forms for the concrete before beginning the pour last week. The south approach span is the portion of the bridge over land on the south side of the Mississippi River.

Concrete pours for the north approach span were scheduled to begin April 14, MnDOT reported.
