Art beat: From MOA to CTC

WHITTIER — Thirteen-year-old Anna Moscowitz thinks the first play she ever saw might have been “Lyle the Crocodile” at Children’s Theatre Company.

So it was a particular thrill for the Linden Hills Community School 8th grader when she landed her first role on that theater’s stage. Moscowitz emerged from the hundreds of girls who thronged an open casting call held last fall at the Mall of America to claim the role of Duffy, the eldest of the orphans in “Annie,” the now-classic 1977 Broadway musical.
