Four candidates battle over two seats in at-large School Board contest


In a year when Minneapolis voters will elect five members to the School Board, the race for two at-large seats has overshadowed every other contest.

Incumbent Rebecca Gagnon wants a second term to see the in-progress initiatives of the board and Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson to fruition. Gagnon finished just ahead of a strong challenger in the August primary: former City Council member and 2013 mayoral candidate Don Samuels, who argues urgent reforms are needed.
