Mortenson Construction celebrated the topping out of the U.S. Bank Stadium following a ceremony Thursday.
The Golden Valley-based company installed the $1.1 billion stadium’s last and highest steel beam Friday morning after lightning delayed the topping out a day earlier.
The milestone comes 21 months after groundbreaking and just 10 months before the opening next summer. The 65,000-seat U.S. Bank Stadium is 75 percent complete and $650 million worth of work has been installed, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority reported at a Friday board meeting.
“Today’s milestone is truly a celebration of the tireless work so many Minnesota companies and individuals have put into U.S. Bank Stadium thus far,” said team owner Mark Wilf in a statement.
