Medtronic will have its name on U.S. Bank Stadium’s gateway plaza as part of a 10-year sponsorship agreement with the Minnesota Vikings.
The nearly three-acre Medtronic Plaza will be a programmable space across from the Downtown East Commons park where a majority of football fans are expected to enter the $1.1 billion stadium.
“Our sponsorship is a symbol of our continued commitment and presence in the state. Medtronic Plaza will be a gathering place available to the community 365 days a year,” said Rob Clark, Medtronic vice president of corporate communications and corporate marketing, in a statement.
The medical device company will also sponsor a Medtronic Club that will showcase Minnesota-made medical technology innovations and a joint community service program. Though the company recently changed its legal headquarters to Ireland, it’s rooted in Fridley, Minn.
“We are proud to announce this broader partnership and to introduce Medtronic Plaza to the community. The nearly three-acre programmable space will offer a new and vastly improved pregame experience for our fans and all U.S. Bank Stadium users,” said team owner Mark Wilf.
