Vikings stadium is year out from completion

In just one year, the U.S. Bank Stadium will be complete.

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority made the announcement Monday as construction continues, including the addition of the U.S. Bank logo on to the $1 billion stadium.

“To be a mere 12 months from opening what will be one of the world’s most architecturally-unique stadiums is incredibly exciting,” said Minnesota Vikings owner Mark Wilf in a statement.

The stadium still has a ways to go with just 65 percent of construction complete. More than 1,200 workers from Mortenson Construction are working on the project daily.

The MSFA approved a deal July 17 with stadium architect HKS to design a plaza outside the stadium for $400,000, Finance & Commerce reported. The project is located in an area just west of the stadium, between it and the Downtown East Commons park.
